Survey of PhD students’ needs and interest in activities that the Graduate School in Asian Studies can offer
The Graduate School in Asian Studies started in January 2023 with funding from the Swedish Research Council. It is a collaboration between the Centre for East and South-East Asian Studies at Lund University, the Stockholm Center for Global Asia at Stockholm University, and the Center for Asian Studies at Stockholm School of Economics. Additional partners are the Department of Languages and Literatures at Gothenburg University and the Asia Program and the Swedish National China Centre at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs.
The graduate school is open to doctoral students from all Swedish universities working on contemporary issues in East and South-East Asia but it also welcomes doctoral students from other universities outside of Sweden depending on the availability of places in courses/events and resources. It brings together doctoral students from different disciplines within the humanities and social sciences and thus creates synergies between existing PhD programmes. The graduate school will provide and organize a range of courses and events such as:
- jointly developed interdisciplinary doctoral courses (courses free of charge, possibility to cover cost of travel and accommodation if needed)
- regular research seminars/webinars
- thematic days and workshops (possibility to cover cost of travel and accommodation)
- an annual graduate school meeting (possibility to cover cost of travel and accommodation)
- a mobility programme (possibility to cover cost of travel and accommodation)
- a mentor programme and career events
