Workshop series on the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals - Zero hunger
Hunger is the leading cause of death in the world and in 2022 approximately 9.2 % (735 million people) of the world’s population found themselves in a state of chronic hunger. And this number has only increased since 2019. At the same time, worldwide obesity, malnutrition and food insecurity increase. These trends coincide with diminishing availability of land, increasing soil and biodiversity degradation and more frequent extreme weather events. How can we turn around the trend? What forces are used that affect our habits and how is food connected to other Sustainable development goals?
Inspirational speakers are:
- Anna Stubbendorff (Nutrition Epidemiology, Faculty of Medicine): What is a sustainable diet in relation to health and climate? Anna Stubbendorff — Lund University
- Heather Anne Swanson (Department of Anthropology, Aarhus University, Denmark): Transnational Ecologies of Eating: Food Sustainability Beyond Europe. Heather Anne Swanson — Aarhus University (au.dk)
- Naja Yndal-Olsen (Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Science): How the Danish agricultural lobby organizations’ resist food system change and how vegan activists increasingly seek to unveil lobby power rather than focusing on the diets of individual consumers. Naja Yndal-Olsen — Lund University
